Game features 

​The main difference with earlier versions

Lineage 2 Essence is a free-to-play MMORPG which is designed by Korean company — NCSoft, and distributed by 4game platform. There is an in-game store, where different useful items can be obtained for in-game currency — adena and L-coin.

There are additional opportunities, which make it possible to level up a character easier and faster.

• “Magic Lamp”. It is a system of getting an additional EXP,
• An automation of hunting. The improved macro system assists to automatically use the required consumable items and buffs,
• A free teleport with the help of the Meow Unit, 
• An available set of self-buffs for each class,
• A simplified path to level up a character and change its class,
• Fights with raid bosses in the open world.

Please note that release notes are being published when they are ready, but note that it is not a final draft. Join discord channel to discuss the release notes. 

Special stores

L-coin and L-coin Store

The range of L-Coin Store can be found in the game and on the forum.

• L-Coins are moved to character’s inventory, like adena, and don’t have any weight.
• L-Coins cannot be exchanged, dropped, destroyed, sold in a private shop or other shops.
• Information about L-Coins and L-Coin Store, the amount of the coins your character has, and the button of L-Coin Store, are available in a special window below the map.
• The store is divided into 5 categories: “Limited Offer’, "Equipment", "Special equipment", "Supplies" and "Misc.".
• A player can use L-coin to be resurrected and restore XP, which was lost after death. The first two resurrections per day are free. 
   

L2 Store

There is L2Store in the game as well.

Click a special button “L2Store” to open the store. The range of L2 Store can be found in the game and on the forum. 

Leveling up of a character 

Magic Lamp

• When a character hunts and gets EXP, the Magic Lamp bar is gradually filling.
• When the bar is filled, a play button will become affordable. Click it to win a Magic Lantern.
• There are four types of Magic Lanterns, which give a character additional SP and EXP.

Sayha’s Grace

Sayha’s Grace (SG) is a system for obtaining additional EXP, items and adena during hunting.

• The SG bar is shown in the character's status window and under world map.
• SG is consumed when a character hunts.
• SG can be restored with special items which instantly add SG points.

Auto Hunting

Some game features are automated for more comfortable play.

Skills automation 

All classes can use skills automatically: 

• A skill that can be automatically used is marked with green sign in the left upper part of the skill icon that looks like two arrows. Moreover, it is stated in the skill description that it can be used automatically.
• Drag the skill to the shortcut bar and click on it with a right button to activate it;
• The skill will be used automatically if the character is not under its effect at the moment or its duration is less than 3 seconds.

Auto-consuming of supplies 

• Some supplies can be used automatically, they are marked with the same sign as the skills; 
  Drag the supplies to the special slot and press “Auto-use On” button;
• A player can choose of specific supplies to be automated by right clicking on the items icon in the Auto-Use window;
• It is possible to use up to 12 supplies simultaneously;
• If a character is in a peaceful zone, auto-consume supplies stops working until the character leaves this zone. 
   

Auto-using next target/macro 

Macro can be looped by moving it to the shortcut bar and right clicking on the macro icon; 

• In the Auto-Use window you can  set an auto-use next target for standard attack (if no macro has been set) or use macro with a skill or action;
• A melee or ranged next target can be chosen for the attack;
• Auto-loot can be activated. Items will not immediately be put into the inventory, only after the character reaches the area with the loot close enough;
• In order to activate macro, choose all necessary actions and press the auto-use activation button; 
  When teleported, auto-next target function is disabled;
• In the “Respectful Hunting” mode monsters to hunt cannot be targeted if they are engaged in battle with another characters;
• If several characters attack one target, than the chosen target of the first attacker will remain, and the chosen target of the subsequent attackers will be reset and their attacks will be stopped;
• If during the auto-hunt target does not receive any damage for some time, attack priority is given to another character;
• “Respectful Hunting” mode stores information about settings and activates settings, that have been set before the game exit, while re-enter.

Cat Guild 

The Cat Guild are located in all major towns and some hunting zone, which helps adventurers. Cat Guild’s Mentor shows the recommending hunting zones and transfers a character to the hunting zones for free. 

Teleport 

• A player can now press the "Teleport" button in the lower right corner of the screen to teleport to a hunting zone;
• Pressing the "Teleport" button will open a map with all available locations to teleport to;
• For teleportation a player need to choose a destination and left-click to travel;
• A player can teleport from any zone, even if his character is in combat;
• Teleportation is not available if a character is under any effects which do not allow him to move (for example Stun) or if a character is dead;

Transform 

Special Transformation System is available in the game. 

• A certain amount of Elemental Stone is needed for using Transform Skills. Blade Spirit can be exchanged for Elemental Stone from Collector Pona.
• Blade Spirit can be obtained during hunting on Lv.20+ characters who have completed 1st Class Transfer.
• One Blade Spirit can be obtained per day (reset at 06:30 AM every day).

Raid Bosses 

Queen Ant 

• Raid Boss Queen Ant is located in a hunting zone - Wall of Argos (Town of Goddard).  
  Queen Ant’s level is 80.

The following items can be obtained with a certain chance after Ant Queen death:

• B-grade Weapon/Armor Normal Enchant Scrolls; 
• A-grade Weapon/Armor Normal Enchant Scrolls; 
• B-grade accessories (Adamantite); 
• B-grade Armor; 
• Queen Ant's Ring Lv.1; 
• Queen Ant’s Stone Breaker; 
• Sealed A-grade Armor. 
   

Zaken 

• Raid Boss Zaken is located in Devil's Isle, near the teleport spot,
• Zaken doesn't teleport himself and players.  
   

Baium

On the top of the Tower of Insolence Baium the Raid Boss (level 75) dwells. 

• Raid is possible for Command Channels.
• Access is available via the Angelic Vortex NPC. You cannot enter if the Raid Boss hasn't appeared.
• During the fight with the Raid Boss the players can enter the zone without restrictions.
• A character will be resurrected in the Town of Aden.
• If a character start the raid within a command channel of 90 or more players, the character will have the right to pick up the trophies for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes the rule is not applied.
• A character raid will be reset if he doesn’t kill the Raid Boss within 2 hours 10 minutes.
• When the raid is over, characters are teleported to the Town of Aden within 10 minutes.

Orfen

The following items can be obtained with a certain chance after Orfen’s death:

• B-grade Weapon/Armor Normal Enchant Scrolls;
• A-grade Weapon/Armor Normal Enchant Scrolls;
• B-grade accessories (Adamantite);
• B-grade Armor;
• Orfen’s Venomed Sword;
• Orfen’s Earring Lv.1;
• Sealed A-grade Armor.

Core

The following items can be obtained with a certain chance after Core’s death:

• Core’s Plasmic Bow;
• Ring of Core Lv.1;
• B-grade Weapon/Armor Normal Enchant Scrolls;
• A-grade Weapon/Armor Normal Enchant Scrolls;
• B-grade accessories (Adamantite);
• B-grade Armor;
• B-grade/A-grade Weapons;
• Sealed A-grade Armor.

Lilith

The following items can be obtained with a certain chance after Lilith’s death:

• Ancient Book: Divine Inspiration (Original Language),
• Ancient Book: Divine Inspiration (Manuscript),
• Lilith's Rune Lv. 1,
• Lilith's Rune Lv. 5,
• B-grade/A-grade Weapons;
• Sealed A-grade Armor.

Anakim

The following items can be obtained with a certain chance after Anakim’s death:

• Ancient Book: Divine Inspiration (Original Language),
• Ancient Book: Divine Inspiration (Manuscript),
• Anakim's Rune Lv. 1,
• Anakim's Rune Lv. 5,
• B-grade/A-grade Weapons;

Agathions

Agathions are a special type of pets. Special bracers are required to summon Agathions. Agathions can either be a funny accessory or to have some useful skills.

General Information 

• Agathions can be divided into: Agathion summon bracelets which allow you to equip an Agathon, and actual Agathions.
• Depending on the level of an Agathion summon bracelet, different amounts of additional Agathion slots are available. The available slots are highlighted, and the unavailable ones are shaded. 
   

• Agathion summon bracelets can be upgraded up to level 5.
• Agathions can't be transferred to anyone else.

Agathion Bracelet Lv. 1 can be purchased in the Town of Giran from Pona, located near the Luxury Shop. 

• Agathion Bracelet Lv. 1 can be upgraded in the Town of Giran from Blacksmith Baggins, located near the Luxury Shop.

• There are several levels of Agathion summon bracelets. The higher the level, the more additional slots available.
• Bracers level 3,4 and 5 give an additional passive effect.

Fishing

Time-limited agathions (30-day) can be purchased for adena, Fresh Blue and Blue Mackerel from NPC Fishing Guildsman in any township (except starting villages) or harbor.

Zodiac Agathions

NPC Pona in the Town of Giran sells the following agathions for Agathion Coupon Agathion Coupon  — 1 pcs.:

• Agathion Coupon is available in L-Coin Store  — 370 L-coins and 60,000 adena.

Zodiac Agathions’ enchantment

• For Agathion Coupon Agathion Coupon Pona sells Agathion Enchant Scroll Agathion Enchant Scroll which is required to enchant zodiac agathions.
• Enchanted agathions get the following effects:

World Olympiad

General information

• The Olympiad is an interserver fights between players of different classes. Players from different worlds move to another dimension (separate server), where the competition takes place.
• Fights cover two servers - Red and Blue. However, players of one world can also meet each other on the battlefield, for example, players of the Blue server.
• Characters level 70 and above, who have completed the second class transfer can take part in the Olympiad.
• Olympiad cycle lasts for one week.
• Olympiad cycles take place from Monday to Saturday from 22:00 to 23:00 server time.
• There are 5 rounds available in a day.
• During the competition, the Olympiad icon appears to the left of the minimap. To open the Olympiad window, click on this icon.
• Olympiad window can also be opened by the “/olympiadstat” command.
• Additionally, the statistics of the Olympiad are displayed in the system chat: the number of points, victories and defeats.
• Press the “Rank” button in the Olympiad window to get to the ranking system interface. It shows the number of accumulated Olympiad points, wins and defeats, how many times the character was a Hero, as well as information about their rivals on all servers.
• Olympiad window allows to apply to participate and see the results of past fights.
• The Olympiad is reset to 1000 every Monday with the start of a new cycle.
• The first place for each of the classes after the end of the cycle is transferred to the state of expectation of Heroism (Monday, 12:00).
• Heroic Expectation Status allows any character to receive the title of Hero  via NPC Monument of Heroes in each city.
• A character who becomes a Hero gains a special ability - "Heroic Miracle", check “Rewards”.
• For winning the battle, the characters receive the Maliss' HP Recovery Potion, see details in the Rewards section.
• There are two types of arenas available:

The process of World Olympiad

• During the Olympiad you must sign up for participation in the Olympiad.
  • During the Olympics, a special icon is displayed to the left of the minimap with a countdown of the remaining time. When clicked, the Olympiad window opens.
• When moving to the arena, certain conditions are met:
  • All the positive and negative effects that were granted on the character earlier are saved, and 5 seconds after moving to the Olympiad, the HP, MP and CP are completely restored.
  • Participants can use any kind of HP / MP / CP potions, scrolls of positive effects, etc. Also automatically usage of HP potions is available.
  • Cubes and summoned servants are released when moving to the arena.
  • Re-use timer resets for skills that have a cooldown of less than 15 minutes.
  • If during the battle one of the players leaves the game, then the victory will be awarded to the remaining one.
  • If the server is restarted during the battle, the match will be canceled, points from the participants will not be deducted, the match will not be counted.
• Chat is not available to the Olympiad participants, they also can not receive private messages.
• The battle lasts up to 6 minutes or until the HP of one of the opponents drops to 0. If at the end of the fight the participants still have HP above 0, then the victory goes to the character who caused more damage during the fight.

Warning!

A character won’t be teleported to the Stadium after registration and will get a penalty of 1/5 points in the following cases:

• The character has 20% or less free slots available or weight penalty is more than 80%;
• The character is being teleported;
• The character is in an instanced zone (For example, Clan Arena);
• The character is fishing;
• The character is dead;
• The character initiated a log out or choosing a character screen.

Olympiad Rewards

Battle rewards

• The winner gets Maliss' HP Recovery Potion  — 10 pcs., loser – Maliss' HP Recovery Potion — 1 pcs.
  • If there is a draw in battle, no one will receive the potion.
  • A reward is awarded to the inventory after moving from the stadium.
  • There will be no reward at all if the character gets defeated intentionally.

Hero status rewards

• The winner is the character who scored the most points in his class at the time the Olympiad cycle ended.
• Since the Olympiad is held between two servers, the title of the hero receives only one character in his class among all servers, and not on each separately.
• A character who becomes a Hero gains a heroic skill for the duration of the rank:

• The skill is automatically removed when the Hero status expires.
• Heroes get a distinctive shining aura around the characters. And their equipped weapons start to emit bright light. The visual effect is added to the equipped cloak in the form of wings. Characteristics of the character or his items do not increase,  only visual effects are added.
• Heroes can chat in a special channel (%). The chat font color is sky blue and is displayed to all players on the server.
• Heroes are only able to speak in the global channel once every 10 seconds.
• Hero chat can not be disabled in the Settings menu.

Giran Castle Siege

Castle Sieges is a part of PvP content for clans in Lineage 2. Owning a castle is beneficiary (taxes, castle skills, exclusive shop).

General Information

• Only Giran Castle can be captured.
• Sieges take place once on Sundays, from 20:00 till 21:00 (server time).  Preparation for Sieges starts on Sunday at 18:00 and ends at 20:00.
• If a character is 65+ level and doesn't have a clan, he can still take part in the Castle Siege.
• The siege consists of two stages: preparation for the siege during which registration takes place, and the siege itself:
  • There is a timer near the map, which shows the remaining time of stages during preparation and siege.  
• Registration of attackers, defenders and mercenaries is available during preparation for the siege.
  • Functions of registration are available through the Castle Information Window. 
  • To open the Castle Information Window to click on the Siege Icon which appears at 18:00. 
  • Also, players can free teleport to left, right or central part of the Giran Castle with the help of this Castle Information Window. 
• A clan level 3 or higher can take part in the Castle Siege.
• Death during a siege does not cause experience loss penalty.
• If a siege participant dies (except members of a clan defending the castle) he can be revived in a special area.
   

Taking part in a siege

• To take part in a siege for the defending or the attacking party players need to register. Of course, a player can remain in a siege battle zone without registration.

Registration of attackers

• Clans level 3 or higher can enroll for a siege for the attacking party.
• Register during the preparation stage in order to take part in the siege.
• Each clan registered for attack can recruit mercenaries. To recruit mercenaries click on “Choose mercenaries” button in the siege information screen.
• A clan cannot refuse to those who want to become mercenaries. If there are any requests from players to participate in a siege, a clan cannot deny registration for attacking or defending the castle.

Registration of defenders

• Clans level 3 or higher can enroll for a siege for the defending party.
• Register during the preparation stage in order to take part in the siege.
• A clan who owns the castle will be registered automatically as defenders.
• Each clan registered for defence can recruit mercenaries. To recruit mercenaries click on “Choose mercenaries” button in the siege information screen.
• A clan cannot refuse to those who want to become mercenaries. If there are any requests from players to participate in a siege, a clan cannot deny registration for attacking or defending the castle.

Registration of mercenaries

• Players can join the siege as a mercenary, even a character doesn't have a clan.
• Clans have to register for attack or defence to recruit mercenaries.
• To become a mercenary a player should click on “List of Mercenaries” icon in the siege information screen and choose a clan he wants to fight for;
• Mercenaries recruitment rules:
  • Lv. 65 and higher.
  • Member of a clan not registered for attacking or defending the castle.
  • Non-Clan member character.
  • If a character’s clan is at war with a clan sieging the castle this character cannot take part in siege as a mercenary.
• As soon as request for a siege is submitted:
  • Character’s name changes to '***-number', for example: ***-001.
  • Clan membership temporarily changes.
  • Clan/alliance/party channel/heroes channel/private messages chat is blocked.
  • Hiring as a mercenary is cancelled if a character’s clan registers for a siege or defence.
  • Mercenary character receives a reward only in case a clan hired him won the siege.
  • A character receives a part of tax collected during a week between sieges as a reward for fighting as a mercenary and active participation in a siege.
  • The reward comes to the mailbox after the siege.

Siege Rules

• When the server is started, all castles are owned by NPCs.
• When the attackers fail to get the castle from NPC, its ownership returns to a NPC clan.
• If a clan wins the battle, they start owning the castle. When the clan owning a castle is dissolved, the castle’s ownership returns to a NPC clan.
• Castles get no damage before the siege time.
• The attackers and the defenders become enemies. A clan’s allied clans (sharing an Alliance) are on the same side and see each other as Friendly Forces.

Rules for conducting Sieges

• The inside and outside of the castle are designed as the battlefield. Although there are no visible lines or borders to mark it, a system message notification appears when your character enters and leaves the battlefield.
• The functions of certain NPCs in and around the castle are suspended for the duration of the Castle Siege.
• All characters within the castle walls not listed on the Defender list are transported to the township of the castle.
• All castle gates are automatically shut at the beginning of the siege.
• Any siege lasts for 1 hour. If during a siege the server is restarted, the siege period is prolonged, and the level of HP of the defending NPCs, the gates etc is the same as before the restart.
• If a character dying in the siege zone doesn't belong to a clan which has the Siege Headquarters, such a character gets resurrected in a special zone.
• The winner is the clan whose leader by the end of the siege has used the Seal of Ruler skill on the Castle’s Holy Artifact. It takes 15 second and the skill cooldown is 2 minutes
  • Giran Holy Artifact NPC appears in the castle inner court, on the special platform.
  • Destroy the Giran Relic NPC in the room behind the throne to make the Holy Artifact spawn.

PvP rules during sieges

• At the beginning of any siege, the registered characters are divided into the Defenders and the Attackers. The attackers can't attack each other and each other's Headquarters. There's no siege alliance for Defenders as well.
• A player doesn’t have to hold the Ctrl key when attacking the enemies and the neutral characters in the battle zone. When a registered character kills another character, their PK scores are not affected.
• A character's status will change to Attacker if the character leaves the battle zone.

Castle Gates

• All castle gates are automatically shut at the beginning of the siege.
• As soon as the siege begins, the castle gates can be attacked. The castle gates can be attacked during the siege only.
• The castle gate can't be strengthened during the siege. And castle gates that have been destroyed may not be repaired during a siege.
• The gates are closed when the castle is taken (intermediate victory). However, the castle gates' HP does not fully restore until the siege ends. Once the siege has ended, the gates return to full health.

Siege Headquarters

• The Build Headquarters Skill is obtained by the clan leader when the clan reaches level 3. The Siege Headquarters allows clan members to respawn at the battle zone. HP and MP are regenerated faster near the Headquarters.
• The skill can only be used by the clan leader of an attacking clan within a designated area of the battlefield. The skill consumes Crystal (D-grade) — 500 pcs.
• The headquarters has a certain amount of HP and can be attacked and destroyed by the enemies. If the headquarters is destroyed, the leader can rebuild it as many times as necessary.
• The Siege Headquarters allows clan members to respawn at this site, and to regenerate HP and MP of the clan members around faster than they would normally.
• The headquarters disappears when the siege is over.

Mid-victory

• If the castle owner is changed during a siege, it's called a mid-victory.
• If the Attacking side achieves a mid-victory, the participant categories of the Attackers and Defenders switch.
• If the newly-owning clan had a Siege Headquarters before they won the castle it disappears.
• After the mid-victory the gates close, and 1/2 of its HP is restored.
• The newly-owning clan is now defending the castle, and the formerly-owning clan can now attack it and have their own Siege Headquarters.

Victory

• The winner is the clan whose leader by the end of the siege has used the Seal of Ruler skill on the Castle’s Holy Artifact.
• The clan name of the castle owner will be displayed in the Castle Information Window.

Castle structure and functions

• A clan owning a castle controls over taxes and political activity on its territory.
• The clan owning a castle can use a special warehouse, and use use teleportation to move between the castle parts.
• By default, the Castle Lord has sole access to all of the functions of the castle. However, the Castle Lord may temporarily hand over the rights to use certain functions to members of his own clan or Alliance members by using the rights delegation system in the Clan Actions window.
• The taxes are collected from the Castle Chamberlain (Monday, 12 pm)

Taxes

• A clan leader who owns the castle can set tax rates from 0% to 30% with the help of Castle Chamberlain.
